Radio Gbarnga Sports has gathered that the Liberia Football Association has suspended all major leagues.

Making the disclosure to Radio Gbarnga Sports Friday via a Facebook chat, LFA Secretary General Alphonso Armah said the decision was reached through the competition committee during the week.

He said the LFA was resolved to halt all leagues due to Liberia’s tough match with Tunisia at the Antoinette Tubman Stadium in Monrovia on September 5.

Mr. Armah told Radio Gbarnga Sports that this will give the FA and technical staff of the national team chance to concentrate on the tough match with the North Africans in Monrovia.

Liberia needs to win the match to get back on track in an effort to play in the finals of the 2017 Africa Cup of nations after losing to Togo 2-1 in the first leg of her qualifying campaign in Lome, Togo.

The Tunisia national football team (Arabic: منتخب تونس لكرة القدم), nicknamed Les Aigles de Carthage (The Eagles of Carthage or The Carthage Eagles) are leaders in Group A after whipping Djibouti 7-1 in the first leg of the their qualifying campaign.

Major leagues are expected to resume Sunday September 6 with players in action across the Country.

While the leagues resume the next day, LoneStar head coach James Debbah and assistant Kelvin Sebweh will leave for Germany for further training after the match, according to FA president and FIFA presidential hopeful Musa Bility.
