Ahead of today’s Knockout round two first-leg match between third division side Muscat FC and first division side LISCR FC, Coach Obediah Gbeh has expressed confidence that Muscat FC will qualify to the next round.
Muscat FC and LISCR FC both qualified for round two of the competition to join the last 14 teams.
According to Coach Gbeh some of his key players, including midfielder Zubah Vessilee and Gelvin Gbotoe, have recovered from their injuries and are fit for the much.
Though LISCR FC is the only undefeated side in the ongoing first division championship, Coach Gbeh acknowledged the current status of his opponents, when he said: “We respect them because they are one of our strongest opponents and we are prepared to face them with high expectation.”
Muscat, also the only undefeated side in Group-B of the Montserrado 3rd Division Championship, is currently in the second position with 18 points out of eight matches and a game on hand.
However, LISCR’s Coach Tapha Manneh told sports journalists he is taking the match with all seriousness.
“The knockout remains my target,” he said. “I anticipate advancing to the next stage of the competition.”
In today's other fixtures, first division league leaders FC Fassel will host Margibi based second division side Morris Young Tigers.
Tigers, Muscat and Samira FC remain the three 3rd division representatives in the competition after securing wins in the first round. A total of 65 goals were scored in the first round with the highest goal (19 in a single match) scored between Holder FC and Tony FC, which ended in penalties after a 3-3 draw in regulation time.
