Who Wants To
Kill Izetta?
- Benedict’s Secret Letter Unveiled
- As Stakeholders Call For Probe
Peter N. Toby
Amidst fiery wiles on the much publicized alleged secret letter
written by Deputy Secretary for Technical Affairs at the Liberia
Football Association (LFA), Mr. Benedict Yarsiah to one ‘oldma,’ which
many believe is the LFA President Cllr. Sombo Izetta Wesley, some
stakeholders, fans and football pundits are also arguably wishing to
know who actually wants to kill the LFA boss.
According to the arguers, the local football house is divided into
three main components, the Executive Members -- composed of the 1st
and 2nd vice presidents, the standing committee and affiliate heads;
the secretariat, -- comprising of the Secretary General and his two
principle deputies; and lastly the over 200 employees, regarded as
commoners.
Though Benedict Yarsiah’s secret letter connoted that there were huge
ritualistic activities occurring at the LFA, but the letter failed to
state who wanted to kill the LFA boss.
Arguers noted there could be three persons in the picture who would be
allegedly accused due to the sour relationships they have with the LFA
boss, some of the commoners for the latest threat of downsizing, or it
would be Benedict Yarsiah’s alleged ‘discovery that someone wants to
kill the oldma’ is another way of winning the oldma’s heart, as he
claimed that he dearly loves and cherishes her.
However, among the executive members, it has been discovered that
three members are in sour relationships with the LFA boss due to their
personal raison d'être.
For the LFA 2nd Vice President, Adolph Lawrence, he has accused the
president of misappropriating over US$2,000.000.00 from the FIFA
annual grant, which he believes has contributed immensely to the down
trend football is taking in Liberia.
The Representative of the Women Football in the LFA, Mr. David Kortie,
is said to allegedly accuse the ‘oldma’ of also embezzling the women
football money intended to promote and develop their game in Liberia.
Lastly, it has been noticed that the LFA chief scribe General George
Williams, is said to not be dancing to the tone of the LFA boss,
therefore, she is seeking his removal.
As for the over 200 commoners, it is reported that in the case of the
illegal dismissal of ex-deputy secretary general Napoleon Jaeploe and
four others, other staffers are also expected to be downsized and they
believe that they too are in the picture.
Though, it is not clear, in spite of hundreds of staffers working with
the LFA who want her die, or rather the entire episode is actually
true, some stakeholders, by the senior Vice President of premier
outfit, Watanga FC, Andy Quarmie are calling on the LFA plenary, the
Executive Committee to constitute an independent committee to probe
the ‘Juju and Corruption’ allegations which was exposed by suspended
deputy secretary, Jenkins Pelenah, that brought the local football
house into disrepute.
“Football is the leading sport in Liberia and over the years we have
been hearing of corruptions and now it has been revealed by one of the
insiders, who once upon the time, blew Izetta’s whistle, confirmed
that there is rampant corruption at the LFA and some senior members at
the LFA are indulged in the witchcraft activities.
“Cognizant of the facts that it has been revealed by the deputy chief
scribe of the LFA, we the stakeholders are calling on the LFA EC
members to constitute an independent committee to probe into the
corruption and juju allegations.
“If the president, who we believe is in the interest of promotion and
development of the game, fails to set up an independent committee on
these grave allegations, we will seek redress at the Ministry of Youth
and Sports.
“We are also calling on our players and fans not to panic on these
startling revelations, we can assure them with God above and for the
passion of football and for the good of the game and the world, things
will be sorted out,” Mr. Quarmie noted.
Below is the full text of the unedited secret letter written by Mr.
Benedict Yarsiah, who considers himself as the savior, to one ‘oldma’
he loves and cherishes so dearly, which many believe is the LFA boss
that someone wants to kill her March 18, 2008
Dear Oldma:
I present to you my sincerest compliments.
Mon, I am burning with pains in my heat. I am feeling outcast and
dislike by you. Please do not feel different and angry with me about
these expressions from me.
I say pains in my heart because, Oldma, I’ve come to dearly love and
cherish you over the years, no matter what situations have been, I’m
your son, and have stood by you to the fullest. I can and will never
betray your coat. I’ve vowed never to disappoint you. But I don’t
really understand. You sometimes behave to me in a way that causes me
to cry at heart.
On March 10, 2008, I informed you that the old man send for me
urgently. My mother herself came to give the massage, she and I want
to see the old man upon our arrival the old man and his Malian
counterpart who has just return to Liberia jump up and urged me to do
everything quickly and bring one he sheep and one she goat with out
delay, and without your knowledge. The old men told me to undertake
everything without you contributing a cent until after everything was
completed. They inform me that your life had been taken out of you
through the round iron stairs at the LFA offices.
To my greatest surprised, Ben Fredericks informed me on Monday March
17, 2008 that Alex Nagbo had a message for me. When I asked Alex for
the message from you, he told me that besides you telling him to
inform me to turn your key over to him; he had no other message for
me. I asked him for the second time, “did the oldma say that I should
turn her key over to you?” he said yes.
I was hurt mom. I was hurt because, I believe that you don’t trust me.
You still feel different about me with all the love, admiration and
scarifies I continue to do for you. You still feel fishy about me.
You’re mistaken oldma. I am sincerely and honestly committed to your
cost, our cost.
Telling Alex that I should turn your key over to him got me to feel
seriously outcast. I begin to ask myself few questions. Does my mom
really like me? Does she trust me? Is there anything that I’ve done to
make her fishy about me? Does she really recognize my sacrifices and
commitments to her? Etc.
However, after these thoughts, and after the consecration of your
office by the oldman and his friend, off-course I didn’t tell him
anything, I decided to turn the key over to yourself upon your return.
Nevertheless, in as mush as I feel dislike and outcast there is a
spiritual bond between us, and that I will forever uphold, to love,
cherish and be committed to you. We, the Belle people have societies.
We never betray our society mates.
Not a day that I will boast of my mom calling me to enquire about how
I’m coping with the job. I sometimes feel jealous when you call my
co-worker asking him about his well being.
Please mom, do everything to understand my appreciations for you.
Meanwhile, I along with the two men performed every ritual and your
office was consecrated with the advised that you should not use the
round iron stairs for (3) three months.
I spent the total of (US$325.00) three hundred twenty-five United
States dollars to purchase the two animals and transport the two old
man back in the bush, as well as other materials needed for the
rituals.
Thank you very much for your understanding.
Your son
