Warriors crash Mozambique ahead of Liberia clash

The Brave Warriors brushed aside Mozambique 3-0 on Wednesday
afternoon at the Windhoek’s Independence Stadium in an
International Friendly ahead of their all important away
2013 AFCON qualifier at Liberia next week.
Civics striker Sadney Urikhob scored the first goal on the
halftime-mark and after the break substitute Benson Shilongo
got a brace to all but set the tone for the AFCON qualifier
match on Wednesday, 29 February in Monrovia against Liberia.
After a rather cautious first 20 minutes on the rain-soaked
pitch, the two sides shared possession with the likes of
Warriors captain Ronald Ketjijere and his vice Heinrich
Isaacks pulling the strings in midfield, while wingers Eslin
Kamuhanga and Willy Stephanus were limited going forward
with any meaningful contribution.
But it was Kamuhanga audacious shot from inside the box that
brought the best out of the visitors keeper, after a well
worked free kick between the Black Afrcia player Kamuhanga
and Isaacks.
Moments later on the halftime-mark, the Warriors worked out
a well thought move that saw Bradley Wermann sliding the
ball through the defence inside the 18-metres box and after
a slip by the Mozambique defender, Urikhob pounced onto the
loose ball to slot home the elusive opener.
After the break, Namibia brought on Jamu Ngatjizeko, Benson
Shilongo and Petrus Shitembi to a meaningful effect as they
all excelled in their respective roles.
Ngatjizeko added solidarity to the already watertight
backline of Da Costa Angula and Willem Mwandihanga as well
as the marauding Larry Horaeb.
Shitembi, with his silky skills, had the crowd on their feet
as he dazzled and created chances for his side, while it was
Shilongo who got the second goal on 64 minutes after some
counter-attacking football, with Shitembi at the heart of
it.
Shilongo got his second and closed shop on 84 minutes, as he
was a glad recipient of well –placed and waited cross from
Stephanus on the right, finishing well in the box.
Another substitute Brain Bantam had chances to score about
two goals but his incredible misses left him down and could
be detrimental to his place in the final 18 that travels to
Monrovia for the 2013 AFCON qualifier.
Final score, Namibia 3-0 Mozambique
