Terminate Landi Contract as Way Forward For Lone Star
.jpg)
It has become increasingly clear that the Lone Star Italian
Coach Roberto Landi is more of a menace than a help to the
progress and development of the national team and as such
must be sacked as a way forward for the team that is
certainly a minnow on the continent.
Since his taking over of the team last year, the Italian who
is an underachiever has brought forth no constructive
program, long, medium or or short term in helping the team
get out of its lowly rated state but is just frequently
making trips to his homeland as the Lone Star woes continue.
Quite recently, while the team started its camp that should
be for a six-month spell, the Italian who was out of the
country jetted in few days to the recent friendly with
Nigeria Super Eagles and immediately after the team's 2-0
loss, he jetted out of the country with his only reason for
the defeat given to the press was "I was experimenting".
Landi's excuse in time pst was that he could not be in the
country when there was no national league on to scout
players. The league has since started but the Italian is no
where around. He rarely spends a week in the country as he
does not live here but only comes down few days to an
international match. The recent national county meet where
some of the country's best youngsters showed cased their
talents for more than a month was without the Italian
watching a single match.
To make matter worse his tactics are poor, he is indeed
tactically bemused and disorganized. His training programs
are awkward and he is not a modern day manager. But, to the
surprise of many his close friend Musa Shannon who is the
vice president for Administration at the football house has
managed to conjure Bility to ensure his ineffective friend
cum coach clings unto the helm of the Lone Star at the
detriment of the team's survival.
It is quite a mockery that the coach is no where to be
found. LISCR is featuring in the African champions league
against Berekum Chelsea from Ghana this Sunday February 19,
and the tactically maladroit Landi is not around.
As a way forward, the Italian must be sacked now where
Thomas Kojo will be the caretaker manager and then the LFA
can start negotiating with the Swedish duo of Bjorn Peters
and Sven Sjunnesson to handle the national team. During
their visit to the country in 2011, it can be recollected
the pair put forth a good package for the team and even
promised to live in Liberia where they would train coaches,
promote grass rooot football and as well help the Lone Star
get out of its poor state by bringing forth well structured
programs, link the players to the bigger leagues of Europe,
also bring good sponsorship package and will work from the
U-15 to the senior national team where they will leave
Liberian coaches in charge after a couple of years as they
will have learned and gained a whole lot from their
professional coaching and mentorship to take care of their
country's football.
Indeed, Landi is a serious menace to Liberian football and
must go for more serious coaches who are ready and willing
to help revive and transform the fortune of the country's
football. |
