Former LPRC Oilers Coach Tenesio Tarpeh has come in sharp defense of Lone Star newly appointed head Coach Kaytu Smith declaring “I am very confident of Kaitu doing a very good job not just with the Lone Star but the entire drive to transform the country’s football”. Speaking in a telephone chat from his base in the United States, the Hungarian trained tactician said Liberians in general must be proud of the exploits of Kaytu who has acquired an A- coaching License from the United States and indicated “kaitu must be greatly applauded for the great achievement made and as such we must all put our hands round him in supporting him to the fullest in order to take our game to another level”
Regarded as one of the country’s brightest coaches who along with Kaytu were part of the generation of coaches that really came to the fore prior to the Liberian civil crisis.

Tenesio also has the enviable record of promoting a host of Liberian stars mainly to clubs in Hungary with the duo of clinical finisher Alvin “power” Kieh and incisive midfielder Mle Collins being notable figure. The Budapest trained coach says he is highly positive that kaitu can do wonders for Liberian football but was however quick to point out that “Kaitu should not be judged from the pending three matches in both the World Cup qualifier and African Nations Cup qualifier against Senegal, Angola and Namibia”, as the time in preparing for those three matches is very short.

Tenesio also frowned on the organization of the various leagues in the country, the players inability to play in some of the top notched leagues in Europe, the poor state of the country’s coaches and players which he narrated as just some of the many reasons the Liberian game is at a low ebb and as well affecting the development or progress of the national team.

According to him, there is a serious need to do some overhaul that would put the country’s football back on track with Kaytu having the expertise to train coaches who will in turn work along with him in harnessing the talents of younger players as there need to be a systemic sort of program where the players will be well trained and made to go through the ranks.

The highly rated tactician spoke volumes of Kaytu and said he alone cannot do it alone, but everyone, and urged all stakeholders to trash their differences in working for the growth and development of Liberian football.
