Teekloh denies Liberia FA allegation

Oct 22, 2003 -Accra Ben Teekloh has denied allegation, which links him to act of indiscipline during the Niger and Liberia s CAN 2004 qualifiers match in Niamey, Niger.
The cutting-edge Liberian midfielder in a statement termed the claims as speculative, one-sided and a sheer maneuver to tarnish his well-earned reputation.

At no time did I influence players to seize the team s jersey, and would never put up with such actions .

Refugee players that represented Liberia in her last CAN 2004 qualifiers matches in Accra and Niamey seized the team s jersey in disagreement of per diems after a quizzical 1-0 loss to Niger.

The team was given $10.00 each as traveling allowances and match per diems upon its arrival in Niamey, Niger.

The even-tempered utility player, who didn t talk about turning over his set after his colleagues have taken theirs, was well regretful of the FA claims.

It s regrettable that my name is being drawn in something which is rather unfair and painful .

Teekloh, 19, was dropped from the Lone Star team that played against the Scorpions of the Gambia recently in Banjul for a role in a quarrel that ensued in Niamey, Niger in July.

According to the player, Coach Kromah declined to embrace him into the fusion while en route to Banjul acting on the orders of the FA s Vice President.

Liberia FA Vice President, Counselor Wesley, who headed the delegation to Niamey, blamed Teekloh for the discourtesy for his role as captain in that match.

The former Tonnerre KC 2002 CAF Cup silver medallist, who also described the claims as unspeakable and intolerant, has cut off himself from the claims to protect his career.

In 2001, George Weah recruited Teekloh into the senior Lone Star while plying his trades with Inter Allies, a second division team in Ghana.
