Stake Holders Dump Izetta

The Sombo Izetta Wesley campaign for re-election of president of the Liberia Football Association (LFA) received a major jolt recently with stakeholders shying away from her called meetings in Monrovia. A host of club presidents in the Premier, First and Second Division have refused to honor madam Wesley's call for meetings . One of such planned meetings with the presidents of First Division clubs failed to pay dividend as less than five club presidents turned out at a local entertainment spot in Monrovia, something that infuriated the LFA boss squarely putting the blame on her campaign team which she noted is "not working very hard to swoon voters".

Two separate meetings for premier and second division club presidents brought the same results recently as the turn out was "very discouraging" from an Izetta perspective as a highly placed source noted. One of the meetings had the usual poor turn out after many club presidents opted for ex-international Musa Shannoh's declaration for his bid to run for the position of the Vice President of Administration (VPA) in the March 20, elections of the LFA.

But, the reason many stakeholders say is more than that and attributed the low turn out at madam Wesley's called meetings due to her ineptitude and killing of the country's football. They describe the LFA president as "the killer of Liberian football" and lacks the vision to stay at the helm of the LFA. What did she not do for six years (2004-2010) that she would do in four years time (2010 -2014) ? some stakeholders asked a team of reporters recently.
According to them, the FA boss is vindictive, vision-less and un-innovative and noted she is not the leader needed at this time to lead the football house.
They also intimated that she has misled them on a host of occasions and that her campaign promises and other issues are yet to be realized.

They blame the former Young Survivors hurriedly elected president (1997) for the downward trend of the country's football, and have vowed not to vote her the second time as she has nothing to offer the football in Liberia. "All the good things we heard during the campaign period in 2006 are yet to be seen. They were all empty promises", they noted. It can be recollected that madam Wesley informed stakeholders four years ago that the LFA had signed a mouth watering contract with its South African counterpart South African Football Association (SAFA) then headed by Molife Oliphant. According to her, the deal was to bring to the fore the issuing of cash, equipment and other valuables to the LFA for the growth of the game. She also mentioned that there were going to be the training of coaches, referees, administrators and medics, but, after four years such has turned a fluke.

Also, another misleading information reports gather say the LFA boss informed stakeholders that the LFA had signed a lucrative deal with DITTIRO Sports Management to promote Liberian football and that a consignment of equipment (container-filled) was to come in the country to be used by the various national teams as well as clubs, but after a month, just few pieces of track suites and a set of jersey was presented to the female national team (could only be used for one match) with the news that the container was coming. "We are yet to see the container, the promises were empty, so we cannot trust madam Wesley", an irate club official hinted. The details surrounding both contracts or how the contracts are yet to be seen as another election looms.
