By Julu M. Johnson, Jr.

Mr. Steve B. Davis, the Team Manager of the Senior Pros football club, has confirmed that his side would take on Premier League Champions Mighty.

According to the FIFA Player Agent, the match is scheduled for the 22nd of June, 2007 at the Antoinette Tubman Stadium (ATS).

He broke the news that for the first time since the formation of the team, veteran players George Oppong Weah and Joe Armstrong Nagbe would be included in the lineup of head coach Vava George on Friday and beyond.

The Senior Pros squad was established recently and comprises mostly former players of the national football team of Liberia, Lone Star.

They include James Salinsa Debbah, Oliver Makor, Dionysius Sebwe, Kelvin Sebwe, Jonathan Boye Charles Sogbie, Musa Shannoh, Pewu Bestman, Janjay Jacobs and Friday Jean Roberts.
The former Lone Star players scheduled their first match against the Premier League side Watanga FC on Thursday, June 14, 2007 at the ATS and collected a 4-1 win.

On Saturday, June 16, the Senior Pros traveled to the Borough of New Kru Town but fell 1-0 there to the All-Star team.

Thereafter, the Senior Pros met another Premier League side Invincible Eleven (IE) with the match ending 1-1 after Musa Shannoh headed a second half equalizer following a cross from Debbah.

Mr. Davis revealed that proceeds from the match would go towards charity, yet to be identified.
Apart from players at the disposal of the Senior Pros, Qatar-based Prince Daye and George Gebro are expected to join the team upon their arrival in Monrovia.

Players of the Senior Pros, when playing for the national team, were instrumental in qualifying Liberia for the 1996 African Cup of Nations held in South Africa and later the 2002 African Nations Cup hosted in Mali.

Then commonly called ‘Weah Eleven’ the players came close to taking the country to the 2002 World Cup in Korea and Japan only to end one point adrift to the eventual finalist, Super Eagles of Nigeria.
