The Gospel of Jesus Christ is not being
preached only in the church, but great men have taken another
tendency aim at preaching the Good News of Christ Jesus.
Sports Power, a group based in the United
States of America, involving former NBA Stars who have well travel
experience, under the tutelage of former Boston Celtics chaplain
Bill Alexson, visited the war tone West African Country, Liberia in
their quest to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ and train
basketball players administrators as well as coaches.
The team thrashed four of Liberia’s elite
basketball clubs as well as the senior Basketball team of Liberia in
friendly matches at the opened air Sports Commissions.

After 90- 80, 71-53 and 53-63 victories over
Uhuru Kins, LPRC Oilers and NPA Pythons respectively, Sports Power,
which had some stars like Anthony Bonner, Jay Brantley and Ramall
Goodrich secured another significant victory this time against the
senior national basketball team of Liberia on Tuesday, April 14,
2009 at the Sports Commissions on Broad Street in a match considered
experienced against youthfulness.
The Liberians, being led by Uhuru Kinks’
lethal weapon Mark Smith, NPA Pythons’ genii Raphael Quaye and
Samuel Davidson and other top rated Liberian basketball stars
mounted tremendous pressure on the Americans, but could only
surround a 43-43 points draw after the first two quarters.
Sportspower engaged the Sports Commission with
their aim of coming to Liberia as the Gospel of Jesus Christ was
preached with many accepting Jesus as their Lord and savior.
“We are not only here to entertain you with
great basketball, but to share the Good News of Christ Jesus. That’s
why we have traveled to Liberia for. You must be willing and ready
to move forward in life because you have everything to do so,” the
sportspower preacher man noted.
The team also cautioned Liberians to rally
round President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf in her quest to lift Liberia.
“She has been to exile, jail and has suffered a
lot for Liberia and we thing this is the time for all Liberians to
supports her as she aims to uplift Liberia,” the preacher man also
noted.
As for his part, Mr. Bill Alexson, who serves
as Chaplain for Boston Celtic in the National Basketball Association
(NBA) in the USA, said he has used his basketball career for the
past years transforming people where the likes of Michael Jordan and
others hailing him.
Half time also saw world 4 times Guinness world
record breaker for spinning basketball Bruce Crevier entertaining
fans with great skills.
According to information gathered by SportsDay,
Bruce has won the title four times as he usually spins 23
basketballs together.
Back from recess, the youthful Liberians took
control of the duel with Mark Smith putting up a three points twice,
but again experience was their nightmare as they surrounded a 93-89
points to the burly Americans.
Sportspower left for the USA on yesterday, but
their memories will last for eternity in the minds of Liberians.
Players of Sportspower were seen giving out
their materials to fans after the match.
