Loses L$40,215

Following the match between the Lone Star of Liberia and the
Eagles of Mali in the 2006 African Cup of Nations and World Cup
qualifiers, the Ministry of Youth and Sports has reported a shortage
of L$40, 215,00.
The Sports Ministry reported the huge shortage when it
gave a breakdown of ticket sales during the match between Liberia
and Mali on June 6, 2004 in Monrovia.
However, the Sports Ministry said it realized
L$3,066,985.00 in cash.
According to the reports from the Liberia-Mali match,
the Sports Ministry said a total of 35,000 tickets were printed for
all categories of seats at the Samuel Kanyon Doe Sports Complex in
Paynesville.
Out of the 27,200 tickets printed for "Around The
Field", the Sports Ministry reported the sale of 21,792, excluding
100 complimentary tickets, while 4,418 were returned.
The Sports Ministry announced that 6,000 tickets were
printed for "Stadium" but only 2,346 tickets sold, excluding 32
complimentary tickets and 3,622 returned.
The Sports Ministry also stated that 1,500 tickets were
printed for "Around VIP", with 555 tickets sold, excluding 100
complimentary tickets, and 345 returned.
As for VIP, it has been reported that 300 tickets
were printed, 47 were bought, excluding 128 complimentary tickets,
and 125 returned.
The Ministry thus said out of the 35,000 tickets that
were printed, 24,740 tickets were sold, excluding 360 complimentary
tickets in total and 9,010 returned. The Sports Ministry realized a
loss of 890 tickets . |
