Minister Accepts 14 Pros But..

Dulee Johnson recalled to
LoneStar
By Julu M. Johnson, Jr.
The Minister of Youth and Sports Counselor Wheatonia
Dixon-Barnes has accepted the number of 14 foreign-based players
named by the Lone Star technical staff.
The 14 players were selected to play
against the Chipolopolo of Zambia and the Lions of Teranga of
Senegal in Group One of the 2006 Nations Cup and World Cup
qualifiers.
The Lone Star will meet Zambia on September 4, 2004 in
Lusaka and Senegal on October 10, 2004 in Monrovia.
The Sports Minister, however, warned against a repeat of the
Liberia-Togo match. During that time, she said players such as
Anthony Ballah were dressed but failed to play the match. She
described that as a "waste".
"The coach should not bring players and keep them on the bench,"
she stated.
The Sports Minister termed the match as "very essential, so we
need full strength."
She mentioned that all is being done to bring to Liberia the
England-based Collins John for the pending matches.
The Sports Minister said efforts are being made to bring the
player, who is known to have played for the Dutch national youth
team.
Hence, the Fulham striker is among the 14 foreign-based players
named by the Lone Star technical staff.
The list also includes the injured Zizi Roberts, and four other
US-based players in Francis Grand Pa Doe, Chris Bandi, Melvin Tarley
and John Menyongar.
The BK Haken of Sweden trio of Jimmy Dixon, Dio Williams and Dulee
Johnson are also part of the squad.
Surprisingly, Louis Crayton of FC Concordia in Switzerland would
be making a comeback in the absence of Sunday Seah, who has not been
called this selected this time around due to undisclosed reason.
Anthony Langford failed to make the list but his Obuasi Goldfields
colleague Ben Teekloh was chosen.
The rest are Fallah Johnson, Anthony Ballah, both of Persikota in
Indonesia, and George Gebro, based in Greece.
When submitting the list to the Liberia Football Association (LFA)
Secretary-General Yanqueh S. Borsay, the Lone Star technical staff
said, "we would highly appreciate were you to ensure that their
faxes be sent at the shortest possible time, so as to enable them be
in Monrovia on time to train, or alternatively at Wineba Sports
Academy in Ghana before our departure for Lusaka, Ghana." |
