A twenty-four hour ultimatum has been given to six executives of the
Liberia Football Association to resign.
Stakeholders of the LFA gave the ultimatum to the six executive
committee members.
The stakeholders last month prepared a resolution to remove
representatives of clubs on the executive committee.
A meeting held by the Liberia National Olympic Committee to bring an
end to the crisis between the parties failed to reach a compromise.
Melvin Sogbandi who is leading the campaign to remove the club
representatives said resignation would be the most honorable thing.
Mr.Sogbandi stated that there was a need for harmony in the LFA and
blamed the six for the current round of confusion in Liberian
football.
The six executive committee members affected by the resolution say
they will accept to be removed only at Saturday’s congress rather
than to resign as demanded by the stakeholders.
For his part Mr.Mustipha Raji one of those affected by the
resolution expressed his disappointment in the stakeholders’
decision.
The premier clubs representative told Star Radio, he is not begging
for a leadership role because he has done much for football in the
country.
He said if removed, as his constituency is demanding, he would still
be in the interest of football and willing to render any assistance
to the FA.
