Cocktail Reception Hosted for Players of the Lone Star

The Chief Patron of Sports, President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf has recommended to authorities of the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Liberia Football Association to begin early camping of local and foreign based players of the National Football Team, the Lone Star, for future engagements in the qualifying rounds of the World Cup and the African Cup of Nations Tournament.

The President observed that if foreign based and local players of the Lone Star are given much time to return home and camp together, there could be better results in Liberia’s remaining matches in the World Cup and African Cup of Nations preliminary rounds.

The President, according to an Executive Mansion release, made the remarks on Tuesday during a cocktail reception hosted by government in honor of players of the National Team for their spirited performance on Sunday against the Lions of Cameroon.

The Liberian leader pledged 5-thousand United States dollars through the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Liberia Football Association to facilitate the camping of the National team for its pending encounter on June 17, against Equatorial Guinea in Monrovia.

In separate remarks, Acting Youth & Sports Minister, Marbue Richards, LFA President Izetta Wesley and the Captain of the Lone Star Squad Frank Seator, commended
