China’s Ambassador to Liberia says his government will turn over the renovated SKD Sports Complex on July 26.

Ambassador Lin Songtian said the renovation project that has been going on for close to twenty months is almost completed.

He said China is spending about 7.5 million dollars to bring the stadium to pre war status and add some new features.

Ambassador Songtian spoke after he led government officials and the media on a tour of the SKD Sports Complex on Thursday evening.

The Chinese envoy said the sports complex represents a symbol of friendship between the two countries.

Ambassador Songtian said he believes the reopening of the stadium would reawaken and promote Liberia’s reconciliation process.

The stadium now has security camera to monitor activities around the facility.

The Chinese engineers have also placed a number of speakers around the stadium.

For her part, Youth &Sports Minister Jamesetta Wolokollie praised Chinese engineers for the level of work at the Sports Complex.
