Rivercess has won this year’s football version of the national county meet in grand style.

The surprise of the tournament Rivercess buried Grand Gedeh County 2 goals to 0 at the Antoinette Tubman Stadium on Monday.

Rivercess dominated the match throughout and it was no surprise when they got the match opener through a well coordinated move in the 25th minute of the game.

Trokon Weeks was the scorer of the first goal.

Rivercess continued her dominance of Grand Gedeh in the second half but failed to increase the tally.
However in the 90th minute, striker Prince Dixon dribbled a defender and the goalkeeper of Grand Gedeh before sliding the ball into an empty net to seal the championship title.

The county won the best out of three with series six points and four goals while her counterpart Grand Gedeh County got one point and one goal.

One of the then favorites of the competition Bomi County secured 1 point, one goal and played her last match on Sunday against Grand Gedeh County.

The three competed for the championship after securing a place in the best out of three series of the grand final.

Rivercess again won the kickball version of the competition at the Antoinette Tubman Stadium.

Rivercess ensured her success by beating Sinoe 4 to 1 home run in a competitive match.

Rivercess has recorded her first triumph since the inception of the national county meet decades ago.

The Government of Liberia and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) jointly sponsored this year’s national county meet.
