A Liberian Referee, Mr. Benedict Yarsiah on Monday night returned to
the country after completing a Confederation of African Football (CAF)
assignment in the Republic of Cameroon.
Mr. Yarsiah was assigned by CAF to officiate a second leg
quarterfinal Confederation Cup match between Astres de Douala and
Luanda e Benfica.
The confederation cup match, which was played on Sunday April 22, at
the Reunification Stadium in Douala, Cameroon, ended 1 - 1, meaning
the Cameroon side, Astres de Douala is out of the tournament after
they lost two weeks ago 3 - 0 to the Angolan team.
Two Liberian international Assistant Referees, Mr. Augustine Gooding
and Abdulia Feika, who served as Assistant Referees during the game,
aided Mr. Yarsiah
This is not the first time for Mr. Yarsiah to serve on a CAF
assignment as central Referee. He was a central Referee in 1999 and
since then has officiated nine international matches. Mr. Yarsiah is
a recent graduate from the University of Liberia with a BBA in
Management.
