As the full utilization of
emerging Liberian football potentials is being articulated, one
blossoming Lone Star defender views this tip-off as a moral jab to
their fetching career.
“ Liberia has great players especially with this present generation,
therefore, it’s about time that we be afforded the opportunity to tap
our talent”, Murphy Nagbe told Liberiansoccer.
The warden Lone Star defender, who made his debut in Guinea 3-0
demolition of Liberia last September, buoyed that the earlier the
younger players are exposed to international matches, the more mature
they become.
“Football doesn’t only prefer the age of a player, but his aptitude
and approach towards the game determine his prospect. Most of the
young players in Liberia today have developed a very high mentality
for the game despite the ages”, he claims.

He, however, advised that the rebirth of the U-16, U-17, U-19 and U-23
teams would give more younger players the possibility of maturing
easily, adding, not everybody will be fortunate to play for the senior
Lone Star.
Murphy Nagbe, 19, skippered and power-drove LISCR FC to the Runners-up
title in the 2002/2003 Liberia League season and was recruited into
the Lone Star during the reign of George Weah.
Along with two former St, Anthony FC teammates-Isaiah Benson and Isaac
Tondo, and Natu Ponnie of Floda Bolf (Sweden), he made the
(L-R) Frederick Vah, Henry Gobah & Murphy Nagbe
Lone Star second-string select
players that lose heavily to Tunisia before ANC 2002.
The rapidly growing defender bumped into
the limelight of Liberian football playing for Barcelona FC, now LISCR
FC, during the 1999/2000 Liberia Football season.
Following an outstanding performance, St. Anthony
FC scouted him, then under the tutelage of Frank Jericho Nagbe,
attracting a price tag of over LD$25,000.00
