"Pythons Suspension is Not Necessary”
…Young Sports Enthusiast Asserts

A young sports enthusiast, Mr. Clarence K. Smith has condemned the
recent suspension of NPA Pythons by the Liberia Basketball Federation
(LBF), saying it is not necessary now.
Mr. Smith said the suspension of NPA Pythons was not timely, noting
that with the present situation of the LBF league, a year’s suspension
of a team like Pythons from the national league is not necessary at
all.
He said, though the LBF’s new authority wants to exercise their
leadership franchise, it should also take into consideration other
factors that are not healthy for the league.
Mr. Smith who is a regular attendant at the Sports Commission,
expressed that most of the national team players are on the NPA team
and so, a year’s suspension from the national league would kill the
zeal and potential of the young players even if they will represent
the nation in international tourneys.
He iterated that the LBF shouldn’t have been hasty in taking such
decision, adding both the LBF and NPA Pythons blundered.
“Pythons is one of the nation’s best playing basketball team and has
one of the largest attendant at the sports commission, they even do
well when representing Liberia on the international scene, so why will
the LBF not consider such before their decision,” Smith wondered.
The young sports enthusiast said, Python’s suspension did not go down
well with most basketball lovers in the country, noting that the LBF
themselves must understand that they were responsible for Python’s
departure from the court, because they violated the rules by
interfering in the regular playing time.
Mr. Smith added that though the present LBF leadership has been
working very hard to improve the game in the country, he thinks there
is a need to reduce Pythons suspension to just the fine of L$10,000.
