Prospect for LISCR - President Reveals

LISCR FC Player fights for control against Bass defenders

February 1, 2005

The names LISCR have become a formidable force in Liberian football. As they scoop accolades every season, LISCR is now a household name in Liberia dubbed "The sleeping giant on the continent".

For its huge reservoir of talents mismatched with the lackadaisical attitude of those at the pinnacle of football development, it is quite clear that this rampaging LISCR side undoubtedly has its place amongst the elite in the country's football.

Interestingly, while the club was making history in the past two years, the conspicuous absence of its President Mustapha Raji was noted.

As the Out Sports Commentator Wleh Bedell Reports, there are good tidings for the Gardnersville-base side.

As former Esperance of Tunisia President Slim Chiboub once said, "For every club to be successful it must have behind it a vociferous crowd, committed players, huge finance, good technical staff backed by a good administration with an exertive president at its helm".

Quite aware of this, LISCR Football Club President Mustapha Raji who returned from the States after a protracted two year stay, held a meeting for players and officials at his Jacob Town residence as he revealed plans for the club in the not too distant future.

Mr. Raji who is quite knowledgeable to modern day sport administration, first commended the entire playing body and technical staff for a monumental achievement over the years.

He promised a harmonious working relationship with everyone, and urged players to press forward in their urge to enhance their soccer career.

He indicated that he will address the issue of players seeking greener pasture as well as marshal resources to enable the team participate in continental competitions if need be.

The advocate for football development further stated that there is a need to raise the standard of the club, since of course, they are now in a premiership league.

According to an insider who preferred being anonymous, Mr. Raji said the club should be run like a well organized institution citing his vast experience on the outside.

He stated though Liberia is lacking in terms of catching with the rest of the world, they would do every thing humanly possible to ensure that players improve their livelihood.

With this latest development, pundits believed that Mr. Raji has added some spice to the team, as his statement has motivated the promising LISCR side.

The arrival of Mr. Raji who had been vocal on issues relating to the process of the global leather brings to mind the tense football calendar on head.

The erudite sports administrator who was instrumental in constituting the president association that is now relatively dead, has come with a heavy weight of expectation as we move forward to elections at the LFA sometime this year.

The LISCR boss had been blunt on issues regarding the vibrancy of the football house, structuring of a well organized league among other salient issues.

At such a time where there is a serious need to improve football in the country, there is no youth development, inability to form a broad -based national team, setting up a well structured league with sponsors being gathered to empower our clubs as they strive to compete with the rest of Africa and effectively probe the problem of clubs not receiving players' transfer fees.

On quite a number of occasions, accusing fingers have been pointed at some club officials for being reticent on salient issues.

Whether Mr. Raji will continue his persistence in exposing the ills in our football society or join the bandwagon of dormancy in our football circle is what remains to be seen.

There is certainly a dire need for club officials to constructively engage the FA so as to annihilate this perennial problem of mediocrity and underachievement
