The
Promoters of Liberia Athletes (PROLA) is calling on authorities of the
Ministry of Youth and Sports to convene a National Sports Conference
if the standard of sports in the country is to be upgraded.
In a
release issued yesterday, PROLA said this arrangement will evolve a
policy framework to upgrade the standard of sports and ensure the
financial sustainability of clubs participating in future
competitions.
Adding," this is
the way forward if Liberia must exert herself as a competitive
sporting nation."
Meanwhile, PROLA
has expressed grave concern over the failure of three of Liberia's
five representatives for next season African continental soccer
championship to register.
At the just ended
LFA Championship, LPRC Oilers, LISCR FC, Mighty Blue Angels, Mark
Professional and Monrovia Club Breweries emerged as Liberia's
representatives to compete in various categories of African
Continental Soccer Competition.
To date, only
Mighty Blue Angels and Mark Professional have met registration
requirement. There are reports that LISCR FC is about to register.
Monrovia Club
Breweries notified the LFA about their inability to participate, thus
their name was not sent to WAFU.
