 Pres.Sirleaf Unveils Plans For Lone Star

The president Madam Ellen Johnson Sirleaf has brought about good tidings for the Senior National team, the Lone Star in her dream to see the team qualify for

the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.On Saturday evening the president visited the team's camping site at the Adolphus Guest House in Gardnersville where she put forth some positives.

She first wished the team victory ahead of their clash against Equatorial Guinea on Sunday and
promised to support the team whole heartedly to ensure the team succeed.

Also, she promised to provide stipend on a monthly bases for players mainly locals as a means of motivating them to take the game serious.

"We want you to keep on serving your nation, as we will stand by you to ensure you succeed." The Iron Lady also promised to provide a bus for the team in the shortest possible time.

Currently, the team is without a bus and depend on commercial buses for its practices and games, and after appeals from the players, the president promised to get a bus for the exclusive use of the team and assured them of a Government Service Agency (GSA) bus to take the team to the pitch for Sunday's tie against Equatorial Guinea.

Speaking on behalf of the team was coach Frank Jericho Nagbe who stated that he was happy for the president's visit and said the players needed insurance.

"I got injured while playing for the National team, these players could experience similar problem, so madam President, there is a need to provide insurance for them"

Also speaking was LFA VPO Adolph Lawrence who indicated that his organization, the LFA was

receiving quarter a million dollar annually from FIFA and other partners, but wondered what is being done

with such amount as there was no improvement in the country's game.
"we should be buttressing government's effort after receiving such huge amount", he concluded.
