Premier
Teams Elect Representatives to LFA Executive Committee
Tuesday, 3rd April 2007
In adherence to the mandate announced by the Liberia National
Olympic Committee (LNOC) on Saturday, during the Extra-Ordinary
Congress of the Liberia Football Association (LFA), representatives
of premiership teams yesterday assembled at the Headquarters of the
LNOC, where they elected their representatives to the Executive
Committee of the local football house.
The Premier Division, elected Geraldine Doe Sheriff and Patrick
Garwo as their representatives under a smooth and peaceful
atmosphere at the head offices of the LNOC on Benson Street.
With the exception of NPA Anchors, all premier teams were
represented during the election process. However, three persons
contested for the two premiership slots of the LFA Executive
Committee. The contestants were Geraldine Doe Sheriff, Andy Quamie
and Patrick Garwu respectively.
In the first round, Mrs. Geraldine Doe Sheriff defeated Mr. Andy
Quamie 8 to 3 votes. The second round was a bit stiffer with Mr.
Patrick Garwo securing a narrow win over Mr. Andy Quamie. Mr. Garwo,
however, won the 6 to 5 votes.
The selection of Mrs. Sheriff and Mr. Garwo did not come as a
surprise to many sports analysts. Prior to the intervention of the
LNOC in the LFA crisis, the two individuals were nominated by their
colleagues to represent them at the LFA Executive Committee.
