Planning on how
to Get Lonestar to South Africa 2010
.JPG)
The quest to find the next national Team coach is
now in the hands of the people that hold the lease on Liberian
Tebelleh.
With former National Team captain Joe Nagbe and
German Coach Antoine Hey the front runners for the top spot in
Liberian Football coaching, the LFA and the Min of Youth and Sports
are still not working in concert on this important issue.
The Dep. Min of Sports Marbue Richards is quoted
as saying “as far as the ministry is concerned, coach Frank Jericho
Nagbe is still under contract with the team and is still in charge.”
This comes as a surprise and a disappointment.
Nowhere in the world, a coach with the
record of Frank Jericho Nagbe will even be talked about as retaining
his job. Jericho, failed miserable to produce results. His record and
performance has caused Liberian Football to fall deeper into the abyss
of African Football. For the Minister to even consider him as having a
job is a dis-service to the Liberian Football fans and the Liberian
people. We are to expect and except mediocrity and take it as trying?
Against this backdrop,
http://www.LiberianSoccer.com
has endeavored to help provide a Blue Print as a way forward.
The first order of
the day is for the LFA and MYS to get together as soon as possible to
select a National team coach. This person should be given all the
tools required to achieve the dream of our President, Madame Ellen
Johnson Sirleaf and the Liberian people. It can be noted that the
President called a High level meeting sometime ago of both the MYS and
LFA officials where she stressed Qualifying for the next major
tournament, the 2010 World Cup, as the sole focus. For us to get to
South Africa 2010 , we will need to start the process now.
The Next step is the planning stage. We have
about 4-5 Months before our first game in the qualifiers. We should
have played at least 5-6 international friendlies. This will provide
an important tool that the coach and the technical staff can use in
selecting the best 11 Liberia has to offer. We can not use qualifiers
for the test ground. We need friendles to see which players give
Liberia its best chance.
We have a legion of young players and experienced
players all over the world. We will provide a List of young players
that are playing professionally in good leagues. It is our hope that
the LFA can use this list as a contact list for these new, young
players to prove they deserve a Lone Star 1st team shirt.
We should pay attention to these young, yet
uncapped Liberian players:
1.Harrison Kennedy (striker/midfielder, SV
Pasching,Austria)
2.George Boe (striker/midfielder, Ionikos,
Greece)
3.Manu Dagher (striker/midfielder, FC Dordrecht,
Dutch 2nd league)
4.Abu Kanneh (striker, Leoben, 2nd Austrian
league)
5.Victor Carr (striker, Diósgyöri VTK, Hungary)
6.Isaac Pupo (striker/midfielder, Karabakh,
Azerbeijan)
7.Alex Nimo (striker, FC Portland, USA)
8.Sandy Gbandi Jr. (defender/midfielder, FC
Dallas Burn, USA)
9.David Gbemie (defender/midfielder, Bolton
Wanderers, England)
10.Samuel Wowoah (striker/midfielder, Paralimni,
Cyprus)
11.Konobo Turay (striker, Waasland Red Star,
lower Belgian league)
12.Momo Blamo (keeper, lower Belgian league)
13.George Weah Junior (striker, no club)
14.Willis Forko (defender/mid, Real Salt Lake,
USA)
15.Henry Blake -an older uncapped player
(midfielder, Torslanda, Sweden)
In the Next Article, We will try to lay out a
plan with a timeline for action. We will also try to provide a
direction to help LFA and MYS formulate a plan. We are trying to help
Liberian Tebelleh.
