PROLA Condemns LFA Boss

June 10, 2004-The Promoters of Liberia Athletes (PROLA) says it condemns in the strongest possible term statement by the LFA Acting President, Cllr. Izetta Wesley, which negated the contributions and efforts of Liberian Foreign-based players towards Lone Star's recent victory over their Malian counterparts on Sunday, June 6, in the joint World Cup and African Cup of Nations Qualifying series played at the SKD Sports Complex.

The PROLA says the LFA Acting President's statement after the game on Sunday to the international wire that Lone Star's engagement was played by local players and not the foreign-based players was untimely and shameful.

The release, signed by PROLA's Vice President, Mr. Cole Bangalu, decried the assertions not to invest in foreign-based players because they make high demands and described it as highly preposterous, dangerous and has the propensity to undermine the unity and inclusiveness of the National Lone Star Team.

The release indicated that only two local players were featured for the game on Sunday, June 6: Isaac Tondo and Varmbah Kpoto.

PROLA has also termed the LFA boss' statement as a "mischief".

Meanwhile, the Promoters of Liberian Athletes is calling on all Liberian foreign-based players to remain committed as a manifestation of their patriotism to the people and country and do more for the Lone Star.
