Our
loyalty must be with our chapter president until proven otherwise

After 17 years of service to Mighty Barrolle Sports
Association, of contributing financially, of honestly helping to
formulate the current national Board of Barrolle, working diligently
to build a bridge between Barrolle USA and the parent organization in
Liberia, of meeting the responsibilities of helping to establish new
chapters in most parts of the USA, I finally learned last week in Mr.
Jay Wah’s video store that I am a traitor and unpatriotic because of
the position I have taken against the national board of Mighty
Barrolle Sports Association USA
Since I believe it is our concern over what other say or
think about us that imprison our mind, body and spirit, I felt
reluctant to inject a personal defense against those charges by some
members of this organization against me. However, calling me
unpatriotic and a traitor creates such pain, confusion, and disruption
in my life that has invoked this response and my reason for backing
the decision of Mr. Sober’s administration.
According to Peter Sober the president of the New
York/New Jersey chapter, last year the national board borrowed money
from all its chapters to sponsor the independence’s day game, after
the game, all chapters were repaid with the exception of his chapter.
He said there was other expenses incurred by the New York/New Jersey
chapter that the board promised to reimburse before the game, but
refused to pay after the game. This is grave injustice and inequality
inflicted upon the NY/NJ chapter by the national board. How can I know
about these allegations and don’t say or take a stand for justice?
After all, I am the same person that openly spoke against Mr. Sober’s
administration for not embracing and supporting the board during the
early part of last year.
Based on these allegations, I have unequivocally
declared my support for the New York/New Jersey chapter to rescind or
withdraw her membership from the national board, due to the lack of
respect and insensitivity to this chapter and its members from the
leaders of the national Barrolle board. (If these allegations are
truth). Malcolm X once said “sitting at a dinner table with nothing on
your plate, doesn’t make you a diner,” How can we be affiliated with a
board that treats us unfairly? How can Mr. Sober’s administration
honestly ask the membership of this chapter to continue supporting a
board that is so unjust to his chapter?
I must make this very clear; I still believe for us to
succeed as chapters and to help the organization in Liberia, we do
need a board. But I ‘m committed to a board that will unite all
Barrolle chapters abroad, not one that brings about division. We must
continue trying to organize a board that will treat all chapters with
respect and dignity a true board that can be a bridge between chapters
abroad and the parent organization in Liberia. We need a board, which
is based on some self-interest for each chapter, and a common interest
into which they merge. For a board to have permanence and loyal
commitment from its different chapters each of them must have a goal
from which it benefits and none must have an overlook in basic
conflict with the others.
I was asked why am I taking the words of Mr.
Sober to be truth? Well, No matter what the president has alleged,
there’s a process, and the final stage of this process is when the
President gather all his facts and present it to the members in a
general meeting. I am sure the president will validate these
allegations when the general meeting is held. While we are waiting for
the process, I have a moral obligation to support our chapter’s
President Mr. Sober. Remember, you have to be a member of a local
chapter before you can be part of the national board. Our loyalty must
be with our chapter president until proven otherwise.
Secondly, the presidency of Barrolle is permeated with
trust and incorruptibility. The office of the President in our
organization has embody virtues we respect, he has moral and ethical
principles we applaud with an enthusiasm that enables us to rally
support for him based on confidence and trust. That is the primary
reason I must side with President Sober.
At this point I should make it clear that while I am speaking
for Mr. Sober, if these allegations are false, I will be in agreement
with the constitution of Mighty Barrolle Sports Association USA that
the best course of action for Mr. Sober will be for him to vacate the
office of the presidency. If these allegations are brought about just
to destroy the national board and for his own selfish reason, then he
will be in violation of trust with the members of this chapter, he
will then debase the office of the president, he will lose his moral
credibility and, quite honestly, he will no longer be able to lead us.
The members of NY/NJ chapter will ask for forgiveness from the board,
and we’ll demand the resignation of Mr. Sober.
