On
Player's Transfer: Watanga Mounts More Pressure
February 8, 2005
First Division Club Watanga Football Club is mounting more pressure on
the Federation of International Football Association (FIFA) via the
Liberia Football Association (LFA) on the possible transfer of its
player Ebenezer Norman From Swedish Division Two outfit Floda Boif
to top club Extun Football Club.
The adventurous left wing back who had a stint in the States, where he
featured for Dakota University before moving to the Scandinavian State
of Sweden, is desperately needed by Extun Football Club in order to
strengthen its back four.
But, Floda Boif President Stig Johansson insists that the player
cannot be transferred on grounds that he is still obligated to the
Gothenbury based Club after signing a long term contract, an
allegation the player has since refuted.
The player claimed he signed a six-month contract with the club, which
has since elapsed.
Watanga President Andy Quamie who is frustrated on the issue has
complained to the local football house in order to take the issue with
world football governing body FIFA.
"WE will pursue this case to the end. As we intend showing to the rest
of the world that we have the zest in promoting young Liberian
players", He said.
Player Norman left the country a couple of years ago, to the States to
continue his soccer sojourn.
He once featured for the Liberia U-20 National Team against Sierra
Leone, in the junior world cup qualifiers, which Liberia lost on a 6-5
goal aggregate.
It can be recalled that Stig Johansson impeded the transfer of former
youth team and Haja Football Club Striker Sehten Hill from Floda Boif
than in the third division to premiership side Orgryte.
Stig Johansson requested for an astronomical amount.
Authorities of Orgryte refused on ground that the player was not a
high profile player.
But, they later expunged their decision to transfer the player. There
was a contrast in the document, as Stig Johannson had in his
possession the transfer certificate of the player as a Monrovia
Football Club, while in fact he was with Haja Football Club.
This is an issue the LFA has since remained tight-lipped on.
