Olympic Committee Congress Set For Saturday

The Liberia National Olympic Committee (LNOC) will on Saturday, April 23, 2005 convene the 9th ordinary session of its General Assembly in Monrovia.

  Included in the agenda of the Assembly will be the election of the LNOC's corps of officers for the quadrennial 2005-2008. There are 18 member federations, 9 individual members and 6 incumbent elected officers within the LNOC.

  The LNOC Executive Committee has accordingly appointed a committee to oversee the General Assembly, headed by Mr. Edmond Dagbe.

  The General Assembly Committee has already issued its guidelines in keeping with the By-Laws and Constitution of the LNOC. The guidelines stipulate that only executives of national federations and associations as well as individual and current LNOC officials, from amongst the membership of the LNOC, may apply to contest elections of the LNOC. It also says that no fee or money is required to apply to or participate in the elections.

  The period for the submission of applications runs from Thursday, April 7, through Tuesday, April 19.

  The positions to be contested for are President, Vice President/Administration, Vice President/Technical Affairs, Secretary General, Assistant Secretary General and Treasurer.
