 Oilers moves on top in LFA league

Sensational LPRC Oilers has moved to the top of the Liberia Football Association premiership league.

Oilers achieved the feat on Thursday after a win over Mighty Blue Angels. Oilers whipped Blue Angels 1-0 at the NPA Field on Bushrod Island. Alfred Kortu scored for Oilers in the second half.

The win has given Oilers six points from two matches. Elsewhere in the league, double champions NPA Anchors recorded their first win in the league. NPA Anchors dragged Monrovia Breweries 2-0 in an intriguing encounter.

The game saw two players sent off from either side. Jacob Blamo put NPA ahead after 25 minutes of play. Jasper Kun scored the match winner late in the second half from a spot kick.

Earlier at the Antoinette Tubman Stadium, Adorence buried New Georgia Pirates 4-1 in a second division showdown. George Allisonzzo scored the first and second goals for his club.

He did so in the 6th and 14th minutes.

It was followed by two brilliant strikes by Musa Quiah in the 80th and 87th minutes.

Alexander Curtis scored the consolation goal for New Georgia Pirates in the 39th minute.

The league will continue on Friday with two games at the ATS.

Kebbeh FC will meet Queens in female soccer while LISCR FC challenges Mark Pro in the premiership.

At the NPA Field two games will also be played.

Senior Pro will meet Determine Girls in female soccer in the first match.

Exodus FC will battle Barrack Young Controllers to close the day’s action.
