As you may be aware, the Oilers Sports Association (OSA) has named four-men Elections Commission headed by Alexander Kojo Anderson to conduct the association's elections next Friday, June 23, 2006 in Monrovia.

In line with their mandate, the Chairman of the Elections Commission Alexander Kojo Anderson on Wednesday, June 15, held a major Press Conference and talked about the guidelines for the June 21 elections.

Chairman Anderson said candidates vying for various positions must be of recent employment (less than five months), they must have worked for LPRC for more than five (5) years and pay a non-refundable fee as indicated below, to be deposited by the candidates for the position of interest at the time of application.

The fees for the various positions are President US$175.00, Vice President US$ 125.00, Secretary General US$ 100.00 and Business Manager US$75.00.

The OSA Elections Commissioner further said that application for candidates wishing to contest for any of the various positions should be in on Saturday, June 17, 2006 and publication of list of qualified candidates is scheduled for Monday, June 19, 2006.

Campaign opens on Monday, June 19 and closes on Wednesday, June 22.

The elections will be held on Friday, June 23, 2006 from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm and results will be announced on the same day.

The Commissioner has already made it clear that only the current employees and players of LPRC shall constitute the voters and added that all voters must present valid ID cards issued by the Elections Commission.

The incumbent President Sartee A. Sartee, who will not be contesting, was quoted as saying "we have played our part in bringing the association where is it today, and wanted to give other potential individuals with the technical skill a chance so as to keep the image of the association alive." Now it clear that the incumbent is not contesting in the coming June 23 elections, and that the Founder of Titoe United Madam Geraldine Doe Sheriff has declared her intention for the Oilers Presidency.

Her declaration for the Oilers top position has been received with joy by many football followers who describe her as the Iron Lady of the Liberian female football.

According to them Madam Sheriff should be afforded the opportunity to contribute her quota at the apex of management of the game in the country.

They noted that Madam Sheriff has a wealth of experience, after playing the game prior to the civil conflict, where she became a star with the Lioness.

Also, as President of the country's leading football female club Titoe United Sisters, who are the current champs, Lady Zico, as she is fondly known due to her exquisite style of football during her days as a footballer, has shown purpose and command in executing her managerial functions.

They further said they are calling for Madam Sheriff to be given a chance and they said they are prepared to help in her campaign process in winning more support for her.

"The highly exalted position of the Presidency for the Oilers Sports Association (OSA) would be an idea task without an erudite Sports Administrator," they indicated.

Madam Sheriff's quest for the Oilers Presidency will indeed serve as a motivation for other sports ladies to get on board.

She worked with bulk of the players, and her bid for the Presidency could make a difference.
