Nyenabo Dreams of Rejuvenated IE

By Julu M. Johnson, Jr.

Although the new President of the Invincible Eleven (IE) is yet to be officially confirmed, Isaac Nyenabo has already given his plans for the team.

Following persistent reports about his quest to head IE, Nyenabo broke silence by stating what to expect of him when sworn in by the Board of the Yellow Boys.

Nyenabo said the first move to be undertaken by his administration would be to recruit players from abroad for the Sunshine Yellow Boys.

"I am trying to send the team to Sierra Leone, where players would be recruited and scouted."
According to Nyenabo, there would be external training and the development of competitive players for both basketball and soccer squads of IE.

"I intend to bring in an efficient management that will decentralize powers," he indicated.

The Finance Ministry official said he wants to take IE from the 70s to the 80s.

"I am also concerned about the fact that IE players are not on the national team," Nyenabo stressed. Another promise made by Mr. Nyenabo is his intention to reactivate "Majestic", once the feeder team of IE.

"I didn't want to wait before helping the team. I have started it already," Nyenabo said.
Nyenabo, meanwhile, said he is no stranger to sports in Liberia.

As stated by Nyenabo, he organized the Bong County branch of IE in pre-war Liberia.
While serving as a refugee, Nyenabo said that he almost controlled a whole district in Sierra Leone as far as football is concerned.

"In Nigeria and Guinea, I organized a branch for IE there," Nyenabo revealed. Nyenabo said his ability to lead IE to nobler heights should not be an issue of concern because, according to him, the Sports Ministry has been getting all the support needed for the Lone Star since he took over as Comptroller General of Liberia.

"Because of my love for sports, the Youth and Sports Ministry and I have had smooth sailing. Therefore, the Sports Ministry can attest to my ability."
