No winner in Knockout final

The Liberia Football Association Knock Out Final between LISCR FC and St. Joseph Warriors failed to produce a winner at the Antoinette Tubman Stadium on Sunday.

The match was later called off due to poor visibility.

LISCR FC forced St.Joseph to a 1-1 draw after 90 minutes of spectacular play.

Chris Bestman put St.Joseph ahead in the 65th minute but following consistent pressure from LISCR FC a defender of St.Joseph scored an own goal in stoppage time.

No extra time was added after players of St.Joseph Warriors complained about poor visibility.

St.Joseph Warriors were opting for post- match penalty kicks but LISCR FC opted to follow the rule.

It would have been ridiculous for Liberian Football if both teams had resulted to penalty kicks with out going to extra time according to world football rules.

The Acting Secretary general of the of the Liberia Football House told reporters, the FA would come up with a decision in the next 48 hours.

Mr.Jekins Pelenah said the secretariat was awaiting the match officials report.

Some sports technicians are suggesting that the two teams play for the remaining 3o minutes in the extra time.

The match also saw the central referee being booed for allegedly going beyond the four minutes of injury time that was allotted.

But there is a FIFA regulation that states that the center referee’s time is the only official one.
