The 2004 Liberia Football Association (LFA) Knockout Championship
has begun at the Antoinette Tubman Stadium (ATS).
From the first two matches played on Wednesday, July 21, no shocks
have been produced.
In the first match involving two second division teams, the Green
Pepper of the Liberia Marketing Association (LMA) walked over
Devereux 2-0.
The LMA Green Pepper went up in the first half via a header by James
Weah in the 14th minute.
Back from recess, Devereux failed to tie the score, so it was the
LMA Green Pepper that scored again, this time through a placement by
Forkpayee Harris, with eight minutes to end the match.
The second match saw the Oilers of the Liberian Petroleum Refining
Company (LPRC) advancing to the next round after a slim 2-1 win over
Black Star of the first division.
The LPRC Oilers got two goals from the Liberian international
striker Isaac Tondo in the second half. Black Star took the lead in
the 33rd minute through a shot from Dabwaka Hadrian Sebwe, the
little brother of Lone Star veteran midfielder Kelvin Sebwe.
Tondo later equalized for the LPRC Oilers in the 63rd minute before
he won the match for his side in the 75th minute.
