The Liberia Football Association (LFA) national league has
intensified with several big teams in the premier division
continuing to lose ground and sink to the bottom of the league
table. The stiff competition also appears to have started pulling
more spectators, as hundreds of fans had continuously turnout this
week to cheer their various teams to victory.
Monrovia Club Breweries remains on top of the table with 28 points
from 17 matches, while Invincible Eleven closely follows with 27
points from 17 matches.Defending champion, Mighty Barrolle has now
dropped further to 6th place on the table and LISCR, another big
name in the premier division, has landed to relegation zone at 12th
place on the table.
Barrolle dropped on Tuesday, after losing 1-0 to Black Star, which
is now seated at the 3rd spot on the table. On the same day Roots FC
defeated Mark Pro. 2-1. The win has helped Roots to sneak from
relegation zone and move above LISCR.League leader, M.C. Breweries
had an opportunity to solidify their lead yesterday but was denied
by I.E, who won the match 2-0 to move up to 2nd place.
Also yesterday, Gedi & Sons defeated NPA 1 - 0 in front of an
unexpected crowd at the Antoinette Tubman Stadium. Gedi & Sons got
the lone goal of the match through skipper Weaka Wisseh in the 73rd
of the match. NPA made several attempts to find an equalizer, but
all efforts were denied by beautiful defense work from Gidi & Sons,
as well as perfect goal keeping from Kollie Mulbah, who was heavily
cheered.
