National League
Gets More Exciting
Michael Gebeh
The Liberia Football Association National League continues to get
more exciting as teams battle for the championship title, while
others fight to avoid relegation at the close of the league season.
The premier division table continues to change hand as some big
teams slowly sink toward relegation zone.
Although the league has not started producing the expected
spectators, analysts are describing this year's competition as more
challenging and exciting as compare to previous years' competitions.
In the premier division, which has been the focus of attraction for
most followers of the game, there is no team to claim absolute
supremacy over the others. Might Barrolle, who many reposed
confidence in has since slipped from the first spot about three
weeks ago and is yet to reclaim the top spot. The Red Boys currently
sits at the 4th place of the table with 24 points but has two
outstanding games at its advantage.
LPRC Oilers, who briefly sneaked to the top of the table, has now
left along the wayside and has been overtaken by Monrovia Club
Breweries. Oilers has played 16 matches, has 25 points and is seated
at the 2nd place on the table, just behind current leaders M. C.
Breweries.
Monrovia Club Breweries is presently comfortably seated at the top
of the table with 28 points from 16 matches but are surely relying
on hopes that defending champions Mighty Barrolle loses or draws
their two outstanding matches.
The LFA premier league table continues with the nation's darling
club Invincible Eleven (IE) struggling at 5th place with 24 points
from 16 matches, just on top of Black Star, who has 23 points from
15 matches.
Surprisingly, LISCR and Roots FC are slowly sinking toward
relegation zone. LISCR sits at 10th place on the table with 17
points from 16 matches, while giants' killer Roots FC is drowning at
11th place with 15 points from 16 matches.
Presently, the least team on the premier table is Mark Professional,
with a pitiful 4-point from 15 matches.
