Liberia Coach Frank Nagbe is following the
advice of Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson as he
prepares for their trip to play Cameroon in an African Cup
of Nations qualifier.
The Lone Star have named 12 overseas-based players in the
squad for the game in Cameroon, but the Greece-based pair of
Kelvin Sebwe and Oliver Makor have both been omitted.
Nagbe spent a week in the UK during which he spent a day
at Manchester United, where he met Feguson as well as
several players including Christian Ronaldo and Wayne
Rooney.
"One of the things I learnt from Sir Alex is how to
prepare my team for both home and away matches," he told BBC
Sport.
"I have to change tactics especially that we are playing
away.
"I need players who can work for ninety minutes and the
system I'm to play is a full endurance system that's why
I've selected this batch of players."
However Nagbe made it clear that Sebwe and Makor both
remain in his plans for the future.
The coach picked up several other ideas on his visit to
Manchester United.
"He (Ferguson) talked to me about some team strategies,"
he explained.
"One of his deputies spent two hours with me in the
classroom talking to me about psychology and tactical
aspects of the game.
"I'll be dealing with my players in a new way."
Nagbe also feels that just shaking Ferguson's hand helped
him as a coach.
"When I shook his hand it was like the magic was going
through his fingers into my blood."
