NPA Anchors’ CAF Confederation Cup Opponent Named

Liberia’s NPA Anchors have been drawn against US Goree of Senegal in the 2007 Confederation Cup competition.

According to the fixture released on Thursday, 21st December by the Confederation of African Football, CAF, the Liberian side will kick off their quest for an African glory when they host their counterparts in Monrovia on the weekend of 26-28 January with the return leg scheduled two weeks later on the weekend of 9-11th February.

The winner of the home and away matches will host round two opponents, HUSA of Morocco in the first leg on the weekend of 2-4 March.

Liberia could see two CAF competitions played on the same weekend of 2-4th March if Mighty Barolle wins against Sewe Sport of Ivory Coast in the Champions League and NPA Anchors triumph of their Senegalese counterparts in the Confederation Cup.

According to CAF fixtures, the winners of the matches involving Liberian teams would host the first leg in their respective second round matches.

Meanwhile, Last season's Champions League finalists CS Sfaxien have been given a bye to the second round.

Holders Etoile du Sahel will play in the Champions League as winners of the Tunisian league.

The first round kicks off on the weekend of January 26th.
