The Deadly Pythons of the National Port Authority (NPA)
is the new basketball national champions of Liberia.
The club achieved the feat when it crushed the Oilers
of the Liberia Petroleum Refining Company (LPRC).
The grand final would have been played on a best of
five basis, but the Pythons short-lived the event by winning three
straight matches.
The championship winning day was on Sunday, June 27,
when the NPA Pythons, mourning the loss of its Chief Patron, Chayee
Z. Doe, dragged the LPRC Oilers 77-54.
The disastrous defeat was to the dislike of the LPRC
Managing Director Edwin Snowe.
Mr. Snowe is now said to be calling for the
unconditional rejuvenation of the team, with the coaching crew being
no exception.
