NPA Anchors Qualify For Premier League

NPA Head Coach
Frank Jerico Nagbe

By Julu M. Johnson, Jr.
The Anchors of the National Port Authority (NPA) have reached the premier division for the first time.

The NPA Anchors, through the coaching skills of Frank Jerico Nagbe, crushed Bassa Defenders 3-1 at the Antoinette Tubman Stadium (ATS) on Tuesday, courtesy of splendid display by midfielder Francis Razak Carr.

The victory by the Anchors also sent Roots FC to the premier league with 20 points, one adrift to the former.

Roots almost failed to achieve their dream of reaching the top division having lost four matches in a row.

But Roots were rescued by the result between NPA Anchors and Bassa Defenders.

Bassa Defenders, with 18 points, with no more match to play, needed the match to win so as to ruin the chance of Roots, but the result will see them in the first division again.

NPA Anchors still has a match on hand and that will be against Roza.

The NPA Anchors coach Jerico Nagbe is, meanwhile, expected to take over the Yellow Boys, Invincible Eleven (IE).

Officials of IE hinted that all is being done to hire the former Yellow Boys and Lone Star player to the team that finished second on the premier league table.
