Anchors Commands The Premiership

LFA Premier League Leaders the NPA Anchors
By Julu M. Johnson, Jr.
Frank Jerico Nagbe and the NPA Anchors are leaving no stone unturned
in the 2005 National Football League.
Prior to the start of the season, coach Nagbe stated his desire to win
the national league and it looks like this is beginning to yield
fruits.
The NPA Anchors began the National League with a shocking 1-0 win over
the Yellow Boys Invincible Eleven (IE). Thereafter, the NPA Anchors
pulled another major surprise with similar 1-0 defeat of the Premier
League champions Mighty Barrolle.
It was from these major victories that soccer connoisseurs have
labeled the NPA Anchors as a major contender for the title.
Aside from the first two results, the NPA Anchors added three
additional points. The Port boys whipped young and aggressive Roots FC
3-1 last Friday at the Antoinette Tubman Stadium (ATS) to accumulate
nine points in three matches.
The NPA Anchors will meet another test when they face rejuvenated LPRC
Oilers on April 17 in Monrovia.
The NPA Anchors are one of two debutantes in the Liberian premier
league. Having been relegated from the old first division, the
Freeport side reached the top stage under Frank Jerico Nagbe, whose
son, Frank Nagbe, Jr. is the club s skipper.
