One of Liberia's international strikers, Musa Shannon, who plied
his professional trade in the US Major League Soccer last season, has
expressed happiness over his full recovery of a knee injury.
Shannon sustained a knee injury in Monrovia against Sudan in one of the
2002 World Cup qualifying matches. Prior to the injury, he was a
super-sub on the Lone Star as he always came on in most matches. He
scored in Lone Star's historic 3-1 victory in Accra, Ghana over the
Black Stars.
The player speaking on Radio Veritas sports show recently said he
played only few matches for Colorado Rapids in the Major League Soccer
and scored only a goal.
Shannon, who is on vacation in Liberia said he is very happy to
have recovered fully from the knee injury that sidelined him for long.
The injury also prevented Shannon from participating in the 2002 Mali
Nations Cup finals.
On whether he wants to still play for the Lone Star, Shannon said
it is left with the technical staff to decide who they want to play.
But assured Liberians that once he is invited for future games, he
will be willing to come and serve his country.
Quizzed about his present status with the Colorado Rapids,
Shannon said there is something in the making for him but does not
want to say anything now until it is fruitful.
Asked whether Zizi Roberts is part of the Colorado Rapids,
player Shannon said it was only the administrative arm of the Rapids
that can make any pronouncement regarding Zizi.
"All that I know Zizi trained with us for some time last year, but do not
know whether he was signed on. I cannot speak for Zizi but Musa
Shannon only," the players said.
