Montserrado Bows To Margibi

 by Horatio Bobby Willie
Monday, 11 December 2006

The National County meet has gotten underway around the country with Montserrado suffering a heart breaking defeat in Monrovia. Montserrado conceded a late goal in a match that was heading for a 1-1 draw.

The game was played at the Antoinette Tubman Stadium and was graced by President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf.

Archie Terris Williams scored the winner for Margibi to seal a 2-1 victory.

Earlier, Montserrado beat Margibi in the kickball match.

Meanwhile, the head coach of Montserrado says lack of focus from his players was responsible for their defeat.

Coach Lucretius Togba said the lack-luster performance from his players during the second half was capped by a defensive blunder.

At the sametime, Montserrado County Superintendent Beauty Barcon has called for a rallying support for the county football and kickball teams.

Superintendent Barcon said although the county went down to Margibi in the opening match of the county meet all was not lost.
She wants citizens of the county to give financial and moral support to the team.
