FC Dallas tie Metros 1-1 in exhibition

BRADENTON, Fla. - Bradenton, Fla. - FC Dallas opened up its 2005 preseason scrimmage schedule against the MetroStars in Bradenton, Florida with a 1-1 tie. The two teams played two 35-minute halfs with FC Dallas' lineup and the MetroStars starting lineup listed below.

FC DALLAS STARTING LINEUP:
Goalkeeper: Henry Ring (Gomez - 36')
Defenders: Chris Gbandi, (Wagenfuhr - 47') Alex Yi (Goodson - 47'), Aaron Black (Salyer - 52'), and Drew Moor (Evering - 59')
Midfielders: Ty Maurin (O'Brien - 52'), Ramon Nunez (Talley - 59'), Kevin Wilson, and Arturo Alvarez (Quill - 52')
Forwards: Julian Nash (Rhine - 52') and Abe Thompson
Each half consisted of 35 minutes

METROSTARS STARTING LINEUP:
Goalkeeper: Zach Wells
Defenders: Tim Ward, Jeff Parke, Jeff Agoos, Tenywa Bonseu Midfielders: John Robinson, Mark Lisi, Michael Bradley, Eddie Gaven
Forwards: Mike Magee, Vladimir Glusivec

FC Dallas 1 - 0 = 1
MetroStars 0 - 1 = 1
 

Scoring Summary: FCD - Gbandi (Alvarez) 27' of first half, MET - Zayed 17' of second half

FC Dallas struck first after a corner kick. Arturo Alvarez took the corner kick and crossed the ball to the near post where Chris Gbandi beat his marker and struck home a goal, giving FC Dallas a 1-0 lead in the 27th minute.

After FC Dallas took a 1-0 lead into halftime, Eamon Zayed of the MetroStars struck to tie the score at 1-1 after a long cross came his way from the left side of the field and he capitalized on the nice pass to record the game-tying goal. The goal came in the 17th minute of the second half.

The best chance for FC Dallas in the second half came when the MetroStars goalkeeper fumbled the ball in the middle of the box. As Abe Thompson approached the ball to take a shot, a MetroStars defender touched it away to prevent the winning goal.

FC Dallas will also play a friendly scrimmage against the Chicago Fire in Bradenton on Friday.
