LFA Chief
Scribe, Match Commission Blunder In
IE/Barrolle Violence Match

June 8, 2004
The recent match between the nations two traditional
soccer arch-rival Mighty Barrolle and Invincible Eleven seems to
have left an indelible imprint on the minds of the sporting public,
as some have begun speaking out against the violence blaming it on
the FA Secretary General Yanquoi Bosay and the Match Commissioner of
the day, Daniel Forkpah.
One of those who have spoken out strongly against the
violence and blamed the two football officials is a staunch fan of
the Invincible Eleven, James Weah.
According to Mr. Weah, the local football house Scribe
Bosay and the match commissioner of the IE-Barrolle Mr. Forkpah
failed to put in place the proper mechanism before the match could
begin in line with the Federation of International Football (FIFA)
rules and regulations.
Mr. Weah said the organizers of the competition - the
Liberia Football Association (LFA) - through its Secretary General
should have ensured that adequately security was in place for such a
crucial match involving the nation's two biggest arch-rivals.
He noted that the match commissioner, being the eye of
the organizing body should have ensured that security was of
priority before the match could have commenced.
The IE fan further argued that the World Football
Governing Body (FIFA) has as a cardinal law that security should be
the guaranteed for any match that is perceived to tension match in
order to avoid riot and/or violence for the good of the game.
"While it is true that some may argue that
football fans should be responsible for the recent violence, it is
also good for both the organizers and the match commissioner to keep
to the rules of the game set by FIFA that concerns providing
security to be on the safe side," he noted.
