As pressure begins to mount for the Lone Star of Liberia to commence
early training and preparation ahead of the forth coming Nations Cup
qualifier match against the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon, reports
gathered by our sports desk said the team may likely travel to
Kuwait for an international friendly match.
Credible source at the local football house confirmed the report of
the international friendly match but cautioned that the trip could
only be possible if the Kuwaiti Football Federation consent to the
friendly match with Liberia.
Our source said if all goes as plan, the friendly encounter would
take place on February 7, FIFA International Friendly Day.
Our source further said the trip is being arranged by Kubba Fashion
based in Singapore. The source noted that Kubba Fashions would
sponsor the trip.
The Lone Star of Liberia is expected to engage the Indomitable Lions
of Cameroon on the weekend of March 23-25 in the qualifying round of
the African Nations Cup, which is expected to take place in Ghana
next year.
The Lone Star is expected to travel to Yaounde, Cameroon and up to
present, the national team has not begun training though sporting
authorities say the team would begin training soon.
Cameroon is one of Africa's biggest teams, ranking 2nd in the Coco
Cola African Rankings and currently tops group 5 with six points.
Reports from Cameroon said that they are not taking lightly the
match against Liberia as they have already recalled major big names
for the match.
The African Nations Cup is without doubt the greatest sporting
spectacle on the continent. Countries are divided into groups in the
qualifying rounds and each group winner qualifies automatically for
Ghana where they will be joined by the top three runners-up from the
groups made up of four teams. |
