Just like their compatriot Bob Zeo, three Liberian female footballers
are at the thick of things in Ghana.
Defender Dehkontee Sayon, Famatta Kromah, a midfielder, and goal
getter Amelia Washington left their native land on November 25,
2004 and quickly settled into the ranks of division one side
Sekondi Hassaacas in Takoradi.
The Liberian trio joined the Ghanaian side on a loan agreement
between Sekondi Hassacas and reigning Liberian female champions
Earth Angels last year.
They drew the admirations of many soccer connoisseurs during most
of their matches, including the Sunsport Women's tournament held
in Accra.
The Liberian soccer progidies and their side advanced to the
last four of the tournament but were stopped by eventual winners
Accra Ghatel Ladies who beat them 2-1 with Amelia Washington
scoring the consolation for her side.

Amelia was on target twice when Sekondi Hassaacas beat
Oforikrom 4-2 in the third place match to snatch the bronze prize.
The Liberian emerged as top scorer with six goals and went on to
score in every subsequent match she played for the Takoradi club.
Dehkontee Sayon was named best defender at the end of the
tournament in Accra.
The three Liberians ably won a place each on the club's first
eleven and have played in every match for Sekondi Hassaacas.
Back home in Liberia, however, their former club Earth Angels have
failed to replace their departed stars. Earth Angels have lost all
three matches played this season.
Thus, Earth Angels chief sponsor Wallace Weiah is happy about the
return of former captain Dehkontee Sayon back to the club. She
landed in Monrovia last Friday.
Mr. Weiah did not hesitate in registering one of his precious
jewels, Dehkontee Sayon, with the hope that the other two would
come on time to save Earth Angels from collapse.
