Landi Fired?
Swedish Coaches in Line for Job

Cogent report continues to reach liberiansoccer.com that the Lone Star underachieving Italian Coach Roberto Landi has been fired prompting authorities at the Blue House (the offices of the Liberia Football Association) to name deputy Coach Thomas Kojo, an ex-international as the stand-in head coach.

Landi whose job at the helm of the Lone Star has been described as a disappointment due to his lethargic tactics, poor selection of players as well as his continuous stay away from the country to his native Italy where he failed to watch local matches like the National County Meet, the Presidents Cup and the Who Owns the Land tournament where a plethora of local talents have been on display has so far being termed surplus to requirement in the Liberian football folklore with many continuously urging the Musa Bility led LFA to make official the lowly rated Italian sacking public or official as a means of moving the Lone Star forward.

At the same time, many are calling on the LFA to appoint the Swedish coaching duo of Sven Sjunnesson and Djorn Peters to handle the Lone Star on a permanent basis as they bring a lot to the table as far as the growth and development of the red, white and blue outfit is concerned. It can be recalled the duo visited Liberia last year where they put forth their plans of taking the Lone Star to higher heights. The two respected and tactically prodigious Swedish who have a lot of contacts which would benefit not only the Lone Star but Liberian football in general including opening training camps for the team in Europe, taking the country's players to not only Sweden but some of Europe's bigger leagues including the French Ligue 1, German Bundesliga and Spanish Primera Liga, vowed to bring about youth football development where they will start form the grassroot (u13- the senior level) and will ensure the youth teams like the U-13, U-14 and U-14 compete in the Gothia Cup in Sweden, a tournament that brought to the fore the likes of Duell Johnson, Dioh Williams, Geroge Boe, Sehten Hills.

"We need the Swedish Coaches for Liberia. We listened to them on radio when they visited Liberia where they put forth their plans in a constructive manner for the growth and development of not just the Lone Star but Liberian football in general", noted Ambruce Quaiteh, the president of the Promoters Sports Management.

With the Lone Star expected to engage the Brave Warriors of Namibia in the elimination series of the 2013 African Nations Cup on a two legged basis beginning February, the need to appoint the experienced and tactically competent Swedish pair is what remains on the lips of connoisseurs in the football-crazy nation Liberia.
