LIBERIA FOOTBALL ASSOCIATION
CELLCOM 2012 NATIONAL LEAGUE RESULTS/TABLES
PHASE I/ROUNDS 11 TO 12 UPDATES with PAWALA JANYAN
Contact: +231886400217

As the first phase of the Liberia Football Association
Cellcom-sponsored National League comes to end, clubs of
various divisions are gearing up their strength to keep
better positions in their respective leagues. The League,
which started in January of this year, has entered into its
climaxing stages at all levels with some astonishing and
improving results.
PREMIERSHIP
In the premier division, all matches have been played with
the exception of a rescheduled match between Jubilee FC and
Mustapha Raji’s LISCR FC, who are 2nd and 3rd on the table
with 29 and 28 points, respectively, to complete Phase I in
said division. Monrovia Club Breweries failed to maintain
her good start in the League, after being at the summit for
more than a month.
The Breweries Boys of late lost form thus surrendering the
top stop to Barrack Young Controllers (BYC), who now tops
the league with 30 points in 15 matches played with 13 goals
difference after conceding just 8 goals. However, the Blues
faces strong competition from 2nd and 3rd place holders,
Jubilee and LISCR, respectively, who both have a rescheduled
match on hand.
BYC had the opportunity to solely take full control of top
spot last Sunday but failed to do so after she drew zero all
to Jubilee FC in a very exciting soccer showdown at the
Antoinette Tubman Stadium in Central Monrovia. A win for her
would have taken her to 32 points, placing her far above her
nearest two/2 contenders, with no worry of the result
between LISCR FC and Jubilee in their expected reschedule
match.
A win for Jubilee will move her 1st spot with 31 points,
while a win for LISCR FC will place her on point-tie with
BYC (30pts) and will guarantee her the top spot or 2nd place
depending on goal difference. A draw will keep the both
clubs in their current positions. A lost for LISCR FC will
drop her 4th spot. Club Breweries stands at 4th place with
27 points, awaiting result from Jubilee versus LISCR match
to determine whether she reclaim 3rd place or remain in her
current position.
Adolphus Dolo’s Nimba United, LPRC Oilers, Fatu FC and
Invincible Eleven (IE) hold 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th places
with 26, 25, 22 and 19 points, respectively. UMC-Roots and
United Soccer Ambassadors (USA) are both in 9th and 10th,
correspondingly; though they are both tie on 18 points, UMC
Roots tops in goal difference. Andy Quamie’s Watanga FC,
Green Pasture and Mighty Blue Angels concluded phase 1 with
16, 14 and 13 points in 11th, 12th and 13th spots,
respectively. Mighty Barrolle and Devereux are in the 14th
and 15th places on 12 points, with goal difference
separating the two. Struggling side, NPA Anchors finished
the first phase as the less team on the table with 11
points.
In the goal scoring tally, Blamo Nimely of Monrovia Club
Breweries topped the first phase with 12 goals, followed by
Dominic Jarteh of Fatu FC and Herron Berrian of Invincible
Eleven with 8 goals each.
FIRST DIVISION
The chase for the first division top spots is still in
progress with less than approximately 5 matches to go for
the completion of the first phase, with the exception of St.
Joseph and FC Fassell, who have 6 and 10 matches to play,
respectively.
International Black Stars (IBS) of Nimba County remains in
1st place with 32 points out of 13 games, scoring 25 goals
with 6 goals against. IBS is closely followed by FC Monrovia
with 29 points with both teams having 4 games each to go.
Gedi & Sons, Young Pro and Liberia Black Stars (LBS) are in
3rd, 4th & 5th places, respectively, while Zelor FC,
Gardnersville FC, BYC II and Mighty Electrons (all tie on 18
points) are placed 6th, 7th, 8th and 9th, respectively with
goal difference separating them.
Goal difference separates FC Satellite and Vinton Pro at
10th and 11th places, though both clubs have 17 points each
likewise Defense Guidance of the Armed Forces of Liberia
(AFL) and Exodus being tie at 15 points each at 12th and
13th places, with goal difference ruling also. St. Joseph’s
Warriors is at 15th place with 11 points, Millennium Star at
16th place with 10 points, Holder FC with 6 points at 17th
place and Bassa Defender the less with just 2 points out of
12 matches.
FC Fassell who was reinstated into the league is at 14th
place with 12 points from 7 matches. As you may recall, the
Liberia Football Association after an Executive Committee
meeting on March 31, 2012 suspended FC Fassell for failing
to pay her debt relating to a fine that was levied against
her for her players brutalizing match officials during a
league match last year.
After careful observation by the Appeal Committee of the
LFA, the Blue House was mandated by said Committee to
reinstate FC Fassell without any delay, after deliberating
that the Executive Committee were in error for suspending
the Club on basis of its so-called allegations. Said
directives were acted upon and FC Fassell was reinstated on
May 21, 2012 giving her all privileges as a first division
club, restoring all points deducted and rescheduling all
suspended matches. FC Fassell is expected to play her first
match on May 25, 2012 at the Tusa Field Sports Pitch in
Gardnersville.
2ND DIVISION
In the 2nd division, Aries FC is at the verge of clinching
first place with less than three matches to go. She is
currently ranked top spot with 24 points from 11 matches;
follow by Small Town with 21 points from 11 matches, while
ELWA United is at 3rd place after playing all of her first
phase matches. Keitrace FC and Sime Darby at 4th and 5th
places with 21 and 20 points, respectively; they both have 2
matches to play each. Kindly see 2nd Division table for full
details
As regards to highest scorer, Moses Teah f Young Pro tops
with 10 goals in the First Division while Alicec Kollie of
Aries FC leads with 11 goals.
