LFA secures more than US$100 thousand endorsement for clubs

For the first time in the history of Liberian football, the Liberia Football Association has concluded a deal with its sponsor Cellcom for a direct cash endorsement to the 56 clubs participating in the four categories of the 2011/2012 national Cellcom championship league.

A total of US$106,500.00 will be distributed amongst premier, 1st division, 2nd division and Women clubs in the current National league.

The LFA has worked over time to convince the mobile company in furtherance of its commercialization vision for the Liberian game.

Speaking after reaching the decision with Cellcom, LFA President Musa Bility said “our Clubs find it difficult to secure sponsorship of their own, so the LFA has made it a business to help. This is just the beginning; we will seek more help for our clubs”.

Of the amount, each premier club (16) will pocket US$3,000, 1st division (15) US$2,000, 2nd division (13) US$1,500 and Women division (12) US$750 each.

The presentation of the cash to the clubs will be made by Cellcom and LFA next Month.
