LFA To Play One Phase League



Reports reaching this paper indicate that the Competition Committee of the Liberia Football Association (LFA) has endorsed the commencement of the 2008 National League with the selection of four venues.

The reports stated that the LFA secretariat has begun the distributions of documents to participating clubs, sub-associations and sub-committees in the country informing them that the league will be played in one phase beginning June this year.

The reports also disclosed that due to the renovation work at the Antoinette Tubman Stadium (ATS), the committee selected four venues, including the C.H.Doway Pitch in Bomi County , the Ganta Soccer Pitch in Nimba County , the Unification Town Sports Pitch in Margibi County and the Doris Williams Sports Pitch in Grand Bassa County .

The reports indicated that some renovation works are being carried out at these venues and that the local football house will ensure that these four venues meet international standard before the commencement of the national league on the 15 th , May 2008.

The reports further stated that the FA will conduct workshops for the sub-associations and sub-committees concerning the national league in the Country.

Meanwhile, when the Co-Chairman for the Competition Committee, Garmondeh Kargar was contacted concerning the one phase league issue, he said that the premier clubs in the LFA league will play for four months before getting ready for the Confederation of African Football (CAF) competitions.
